Important information concerning rules, regulations, and exceptions.

• All applications must be submitted at least 45 days before the program begins. Applications submitted less than 45 days in advance cannot be considered.

• Educational grants must support bona fide educational activities and involve a scientific exchange of information with a medical focus.

• Educational grants are for organizations, not for individuals.

• Ethicon will consider both accredited and non-accredited activities for educational grants. The audience may consist of physicians, healthcare professionals, or patients. For CE/CME programs, requests from accredited organizations whose accreditation status is on probation will not be considered.

• Johnson & Johnson companies can no longer provide grant support to commercially-owned medical education and communication companies (MECCs).  Ethicon will support independent physician education, whether CME-certified or not, to programs or activities sponsored or certified by academic medical centers, hospitals, medical societies, professional associations or governmental agencies within the United States.

• Ethicon, Inc. educational grants cannot be used for the following:

º Courses outside the United States

º Promotional activities (promotion of specific products or company)

º Support of charitable programs

º Normal organizational overhead: purchase of computer equipment/software, staff training, etc.

º Travel, conference expenses or honoraria for program attendees presenting a "poster presentation:" or "free paper"

º Support of programs that have already taken place

º Payment to individuals (only organizations qualify)

º Promotion of off-label use of a product

º Reimbursement to physicians or other attendees for the cost of obtaining CME credits

Educational grants are provided without condition of product use or contingence upon any commitment to purchase, use, or recommend the use of our products.
